Kings re-acquire and sign Jonathan Milley
General Manager Sheldon Keefe announced that the Kings have re-acquired the rights to 19 year old Jonathan Milley from the Smiths Falls Bears and subsequently signed the 6’4” 215 pound power forward for the upcoming season.

Milley, who represented Team Canada East at the 2009 World Junior A Challenge and also played for the CJHL All-Stars in the Battle of Ontario was acquired on loan from Smiths Falls at the 2010 trade deadline and despite missing almost three months to injury, he joined the Kings in time for their historic run to their fourth consecutive league championship where he scored 7 goals and added 8 assists in 12 playoff games.

At the conclusion of the 2010 Fred Page Cup his rights reverted to Smiths Falls but with this deal he will be back in the Red and White when the Kings hit the ice in August.

The Bears received a package including a player development fee and five draft picks while two fifth round picks from the Bears come with Milley to Pembroke.

Kings acquire local area Defenceman
Lumber Kings General Manager Sheldon Keefe announced today that the Kings have acquired 17 year old Keenan Murray from the OJHL’s Peterborough Stars in exchange for a Player Development Fee.

Murray, a 5’11 175 pound Defenceman is a native of Barry’s Bay, Ontario and was a standout with the Ottawa Valley Titans Minor Hockey system before leaving for the Peterborough area to attend prestigious Lakefield College School.

Last season as a 16 year old rookie, he led all Stars Defenseman with 4 goals and added 17 assists for 21 points in 46 games . He also traveled to Pembroke in January and participated in the Battle of Ontario Top Prospects Game and was selected by the Sudbury Wolves in 2009 OHL Draft.

With a solid rookie campaign under his belt, he is firmly on the radar of NCAA Division 1 programs and is poised for a breakout sophomore season with the Kings who with this deal add to the already strong local contingent on the Pembroke roster.

Kings select local talent at CHL Draft; announce bantam protects
There was an abundance of local talent available in this year's edition of the CHL Draft and the Lumber Kings were successful in their bid to secure the rights of local players they coveted.

In total, the Kings selected 12 players with 10 of them from Pembroke or surrounding area.

The event started with the announcement of the 1995 Bantam Protects which saw the Kings hold on to Ottawa Valley Titans Defenseman Blake Lemoine (Pembroke) and Forward Stephen Cooney (Deep River).

In the first round of the draft it was Petawawa native Teddy Suckow that had is name called by his local team. Suckow, played Defense with the Ottawa Valley Titans Minor Midgets last season. For the Kings next pick they had to wait for the third round where they selected forward Brandon Riopelle from Deep River who had a great season this year with the Pembroke Major Midgets.
