March, 17 2010 - Damian Cross committs to NCAA Division 1 Providence College

The Pembroke Lumber Kings are pleased to announce that Damian Cross has committed to play Division 1 NCAA hockey at Providence College. Cross, who led the league in scoring was recently named CJHL MVP as voted by the league's General Managers. He will join the Friars for the 2010-2011 season. Congratulations Damian!

March, 03 2010 - Scott Zacharias Committs to Bowling Green State University

Kings General Manager Sheldon Keefe announced today that Goaltender Scott Zacharias has committed to NCAA Division 1 Bowling Green State University for next season. Scott currently leads all CJHL Goaltenders in both Goals Against Average and Save Percentage and is looking forward to the opportunity to lead Pembroke to its fourth straight CJHL Championship once the playoffs begin on Tuesday March 9th. March, 02 2010 - Damian Cross named CJHL's Most Outstanding Player; Reinhardt, Peca, Keefe also honoured with CJHL Awards

The Central Junior Hockey League announced it's 2009-2010 award recipients today and the Lumber Kings led the way with four winners. Damian Cross, who leads the CJHL in scoring by a wide margin was named the leagues Most Outstanding Player. Kings Captain Ben Reinhardt was recognized as the leagues top Defenceman while first year sensation Matthew Peca was named Rookie of the Year. Kings General Manager Sheldon Keefe received the award for General Manager of the Year. All awards are voted on by the twelve CJHL General Managers. February, 05 2010 - Alumni Update: Campbell and Lasch listed as candidates for Hobey Baker Award, Walters nominated for Frozen Four Skill Challenge

The Lumber Kings list of proud and succesful alumni is a long one that can be hilighted by the recent success of some familiar names. Forwards Ryan Lasch, Scott Campbell and Jason Walters all held the distinction of "fan favorites" during their time in Pembroke and not much has changed with their new teams as they continue their success in the NCAA. All three players are a big part of their respective nationally ranked teams and are enojoying great seasons. Lasch and Campbell were recently named as candidates for the Hobey Baker Award which is awarded anually to NCAA College hockey's top player while Walters was nominated for consideration to participate in the 2010 Frozen Four Skill Challenge, which will take place during the NCAA Frozen Four Weekend at Ford Field in Detroit. Lasch, a Senior is in his final season with St. Cloud State University and has helped the Huskies climb the National Rankings to Number 4. Campbell, a Junior with UMASS-Lowell attended the Boston Bruins Development Camp in the summer and hasn't looked back as he has helped put the River Hawks on the map at number 18 in the Nation. Walters, a Senior with Union College is leading the Dutchmen in scoring and has done his part to help round out the National Rankings as they sit at number 20. January, 11 2010 - Kings busy at trade deadline adding four players

Lumber Kings General Manager Sheldon Keefe announced today that the team has added four players to the fold before last nights trade deadline. Coming to the Kings are: 1990 RD Stephen Farrell (re-acquired from Cumberland) 1990 RW Mitchell Gallant (acquired from Cumberland) 1989 LW Ahmed Mahfouz (acquired from Nepean) 1991 RW Jonathan Milley (acquired from Smiths Falls) While most of the transactions involved draft picks, the Kings had to part with 19 year old Defenseman Craig Myeroff who went to the Hawkesbury Hawks along with the rights to Jeremy Melbye. Forward Andrew Smith was moved to the Smiths Falls Bears. Keefe also announced that Dustin Fummerton was traded to the Fort William North Stars of the SIJHL for future considerations.

December, 11 2009 - Pembroke's Andrew Clouthier returns from OHL to join the Kings

The Kings welcomed local boy Andrew Clouthier to the fold today and he immediately made his presence felt scoring a much needed insurance goal in the Kings 3-1 road win in Carleton Place tonight. Clouthier, a 6-3 215 pound power forward was released to the Kings from the OHL's Kingston Frontenacs. Pembroke fans will get their first chance to see Andrew in Red and White when the Kings return to the ice for an afternoon game on Sunday December 13th at 2:00pm when the Carleton Place Canadians travel to Pembroke for the rematch. The Kings also announced that they have traded the CJHL rights to Caz Cantwell and Tim Wolford to the Kemptville 73's in exchange for a 4th round pick in 2010 and a 5th round pick in 2011 along with future considerations.

December, 08 2009 - Lumber Kings to take part in Olympic Torch Celebration

The Olympic celebration is fast approaching and the city of Pembroke is eagerly anticipating the torch's arrival this Sunday. Lumber Kings players will get the opportunity to take part in the festivities as they have been invited to help welcome the Olympic Torch to Hockey Town Canada and the Ottawa Valley. The Celebration will coincide with Kings afternoon game at the PMC when they take on the Carleton Place Canadians at 2:00pm. The Olympic Celebration will take place at the Pembtoke Waterfront beginning shortly after the Kings game at 5:00pm. The Kings will kick off the day with a pre-geme ceremony prior to puck drop.
